As many of you have discovered, CSTOCK recently added a feature to the website which allows any CSTOCK Performer (past or present) to customize a Theatrical Profile right on the website. So far, more than 50 CSTOCK Performers who have taken advantage of this opportunity to showcase their theatre experience.

Michelle AbadMichelle Abad, a long-time CSTOCK performer was the first member to really take the time to create a very attractive and thorough Profile. Because of Michelle’s enthusiasm for the new feature and her willingness to take the time making her profile something special, she becomes the first Featured Profile on the CSTOCK website.

If you have noticed the profiles but were unsure what to do with yours, take a look at Michelle’s profile for some ideas. Michelle made excellent use of the visual aspects of her profile, adding over 30 photos of her stage career. The photos really make her profile “pop”.

Michelle created her profile from Central Washington, she is not in Kitsap County at this time. This illustrates one of the advantages CSTOCK’s new system has to offer; it’s accessible from any computer with Internet access. So, as Michelle (and all members) pursues her stage career, she can continue to update her profile from whatever location she happens to be in. The CSTOCK Member Profiles are a permanent part of the website. Think of your profile as an online resume of your stage career!

Good Manners, Common Courtesy and Security

The CSTOCK website is a very busy place. In September, the website had over 42,000 page views. While this is a wonderful way to let the world know all about the Community Theatre, it can also very easily become a messy, shoddy-looking collection of cluttered and unprofessional information. The profiles can also attract unwanted spam if you are not carefull about the information you post. Below are some general guidelines for what is appropriate and what is not appropriate to post on a Profle.

Inappropriate content:

  • Swear words - inappropriate (will be removed)
  • Suggestive text - inappropriate (will be removed)
  • Suggestive photos - inappropriate (will be removed)
  • Advertising - inappropriate (please do not advertise your outside interests on the CSTOCK site, including other Theatres! If you would like to take advantage of the traffic CSTOCK attracts to draw attention to another business or Theatre, please contact me.)
  • Deragatory comments - inappropriate (member will be warned)

Acceptable content

  • CSTOCK photos - very appropriate
  • Other Theatre photos - appropriate
  • Personal photos - appropriate (but not exactly what the profiles are for :) )
  • Scholastic activities - appropriate

In general, just use common sense. The CSTOCK site is owned by the Theatre. Significant resources have been expended on it’s development. Do what you can to make the website even better and avoid anything that would make it messy, ugly, trashy or sloppy. Simple, huh? Always remember, the Internet is a vast place. There are people watching you! Your profile affects what the world will think of you.

If you have any questions about the Profiles (or the website in general), please feel free to contact me. If you believe you have a terrific idea to make the website better, contact me as fast as you can! I love good ideas.

I’ll be highlighting additional terrific member profiles on occassion. It could be yours …

I want to say thank you to all of you who attended our first Town Hall meeting on Sept. 23rd. The board was overwhelmed by all of your kind comments as well as your constructive criticisms. The ideas that started flowing were terrific and it really super-charged the board into action.

You may not necessarily see what we do OR think that we’re not doing anything but I promise you that we are and we are stoked about some new things coming down the pike. We’ll be making some announcements in the near future about some of these plans. They include some inner structure changes as well as new classes and workshops. As I wind up my term as board president I can see some amazing changes getting ready to happen!

Stay tuned…. more to come!

Our friends at BCT (Bremerton Community Theatre) are having a sale on some of their old costumes. Info is below….. you might find some good items!

Costume and Vintage Clothing Sale

Bremerton Community Theatre is cleaning out our costume loft. We’ve found some fabulous costumes and vintage clothing that are a lighting nightmare, or we won’t need nuns again for a while or are repeat pieces. We have a ton of mens suits, women’s dresses long and short, vintage hats, shoes and even a few props such as luggage. We even have some real fur coats that we just don’t have the room for.

These great items will be available for sale at the BCT Lobby 599 Lebo Blvd on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19. From 10-11AM on Saturday, we would like to make these items available to other theatres in the area at half price. If it is a drama school program, we will donate any items you select for free but you must have proof of school program such as letter on letterhead as introduction etc. The sale is open to the public in the BCT Lobby from 11-5 PM both Saturday and Sunday. Prices will vary but they are set to sell.

So, for Halloween, if you have always wanted to be the ”not so nun like” nun, a hippy or Mrs Roper from Three’s Company, we’ve got the costume for you. Proceeds for this sale will go to continued improvements in our costume and props loft. For more information, please see our website: www.bremertoncommunitytheatre.org.

I’m writing this article live from the first official CSTOCK Town Hall Meeting! In our never-ending desire to inform and provide transparency, we wanted to give our supportive community members the opportunity to provide personal input and observe one of our monthly Board Meetings.

These are very exciting days for CSTOCK! We are casting an exciting and adventurous vision for the future - one that will undoubtedly propel us into the leading forefront of community theaters in the West Sound!

We invite anyone from among our surrounding communities to join us, and partner with us, as we embark on this incredible journey.

Stay Tuned!

Come on down to CSTOCK and see the fall production of ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’!!! We’ve got a terrific cast and crew as well as an amazing band!

Go to Brown Paper Tickets and get your tickets now as the show will sell out!!! This show is great for the whole family!

When it rains, it pours….

Looks like our Spring production of “Harvey” will NOT be available. So rather than wait and try again we thought it best to come up with some new ideas so there may be a musical in the Spring slot in 2009!

We’ll announce our replacement show at the Town Hall Meeting next Tuesday!

Speaking of which…. will YOU be there??

Disney's The Jungle Book

I was fortunate enough to get a chance to watch a rehearsal of this year’s Children’s Summer Workshop production (which happens to be ‘The Jungle Book’ if you couldn’t figure it out by the blog title!).

It’s going to be a great show! These 41 kids (between 6-13 years old) are absolutely amazing. There are kids with a lot of stage experience as well as kids with no stage time whatsoever and they are all seamlessly working together and creating a show that will knock your socks off!

I’m really impressed with Andrea and her team of DIT’s. They are doing some amazing work - these kids onstage will be the future of our theatre. And our DITS are our future directors so come on down and support a good cause (CSTOCK is taking donations for the Kitsap Humane Society and for the 4-H Club) as well as see a great show!

Welcome to summer! (well….I know it’s June but there is no sun as I write this)

We’ve got a lot of activities going on at the theatre. Hopefully you’ll be able to come down and see our kids for kids production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance”! This is the second opportunity our kids have had to put on this production. Director Dan Estes has been working since April with a very talented group of young actors. The show runs July 11 - August 3. Tickets are now on sale online at www.brownpapertickets.com or by phone at 360 692-9940.

Also coming up is the Kids Summer Workshop. From July 28-Aug 8 a group of 40 kids will learn all the different aspects of theatre. At the end of their workshop they will put on a show “Disney’s The Jungle Book”. Performance dates are August 8, 9, 10. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Auditions are also coming up for our season opener “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”! Director Gwen Adams and her team are gearing up for an exciting show. Audition info will be on the website page shortly!

Come on down and join in the fun!
