History

Generations of Inspiration

Founded in 1986, Central Stage Theatre is a non-profit community theatre located in beautiful Kitsap County, WA.  Each year, 250 of our relatives, friends, and neighbors volunteer their time and talent to bring performing arts inspiration to our community.  Central Stage Theatre has performed hundreds of full-scale musicals and offers a myriad of acting workshops, technical trainings, and camp programs for aspiring young artists.

Family Involvement

Central Stage Theatre has a longstanding record of casting youth and family members in productions, while simultaneously recruiting relatives to help with lighting, costumes and set design. We are one of the few programs in the community that can involve every member of the family in a production.

Teaching New Leaders

We are also a training ground for new directors and stage managers, offering classes and mentoring opportunities to cultivate a new generation of leadership in the performing arts. Beyond traditional musicals and plays, we have performed original works written by members of our community, attracting actors from all over the country.

Central Stage Theatre offers youth leadership development through our Student Committee and opportunities for youth to direct and perform in talent shows and in our annual "Kids for Kids" production. The Board of Directors regularly invites two non-voting youth representatives to serve with us and awards annual scholarships to students who demonstrate a passion for musical theatre.

History in the Making

While we complete our capital campaign for a new permanent home, we are currently performing at several places around Kitsap County, including the Silverdale Beach Hotel, Olympic College, Kitsap Golf and County Club, and Silverdale Lutheran Church. Please check individual show listings for venue information.
